Lunar New Year is a time for giving; be it “angpau” (red packets) or in other forms such as cookies and mandarin oranges. This popular tradition was again adopted by Taylor’s Group Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (GCCSR) Department\u00a0following the success of the \u200bprevious\u00a0year’s\u00a0Lunar New Year project. This time around, the\u00a0 donation drive\u00a0was open not only to Taylorians, but also to everyone in the public!\u00a0\u200b<\/p>\n

By adapting the tradition of “sharing”, everyone was welcomed to donate their excess Lunar New Year cookies or mandarin oranges, just as long as they were unopened, not expired and in good condition. The donations received over the 6-day\u200b\u200b\u00a0collection period were distributed to the Chin Student Organisation (CSO) Puchong, a refugee school that supports the Chin refugee community living in Kuala Lumpur and gives children access to education. Teacher of CSO Puchong, Joseph has shared that: “Students don’t usually have the opportunity to celebrate\u00a0Lunar New Year\u00a0and receive gifts like that. But this year, we receive a lot of cookies and mandarin oranges, so the students get to enjoy these. The\u00a0Lunar New Year\u00a0project is meaningful as it will help the students to understand more about\u00a0Lunar New Year\u200b. The happy faces of the children clearly showed that no further explanation was required on how meaningful this project is to them.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There were also many positive feedback received from Taylor’s staffs. The Senior Manager of Group Finance (Corporate Affairs), Vicky Leow has shared that: “This is definitely a very good initiative and thank you for organising it. Instead of wasting the food, we can share it with others.” Apart from that, The Senior Career Advisor, Michelle Ng has also shared that: “This is a very good initiative as the food can pass to people that need it.” That is indeed true as Chinese New Year is all about welcoming the new morning with a new spirit, a smile on our face, love in our heart and good thoughts in your mind!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
