The Next of Program Keusahawanan Taylor’s-CIMB Islamic!

It has been two years since Taylor’s Education Group partnered with CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad in a Corporate Social Responsibility microfinancing programme to help entrepreneurs from the bottom 40 per cent of household income group (B40) involved in small-medium business. The second year programme journey was marked 80% completion during the recent grant award ceremony that has granted 107 winners with close to RM500,000 worth of business grants.

Taylor’s Group Communications and CSR Manager, May Wong shared, “For the second year running this programme, it has been brought to our attention that our participants have skills, but they require further polishing and incubation. Therefore, we came out with PK2.0, a structured training process to further equip an entrepreneur with more social media marketing skills and life skills. This time around we are also giving them practical skills and individual business coaching that is crucial for them to elevate their businesses to the next level.”

The Program Keusahawanan Taylor’s-CIMB Islamic 2.0 – 2018 (PK2.0) is a programme which helps in developing the entrepreneurial abilities among the B40 communities. The programme focuses on the hands, heads, heart and health were designed especially for the participants of Program Keusahawanan Taylor’s-CIMB Islamic 2017 and 2018 with the objective to equip the participants with skills and the necessary capabilities to play the role of an entrepreneur effectively.

   

PK2.0 is divided into three pillars – PK University, PK Marketplace and PK Digital. PK University is an academic based module which covers a few aspects like classroom knowledge, emotional well-being, mental health and skill sets. Under the PK Marketplace pillar, there are various platforms to facilitate networking for businesses amongst PK alumni such as showcase bazaars, business networking groups, monthly gathering and business forums where alumni can promote their products online similar to Lazada platform. Lastly, PK Digital is a marketing platform for all our PK alumni as a way to share learnings and success stories through hashtags trending and quarterly video to profile participants to be seeded on social media.

Out of 244 PK alumni from 2017 and 2018, about 42% signed-up in the PK2.0 that will be running for five months from August till December 2018. The first PK University class was kick-started last Saturday at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus with marketing class by En Mohd Muttaqin, lecturer from Taylor’s Business School, financial literacy class by Cik Aziera from Agensi Kaunseling & Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) and emotional well-being through flowers class by Cik Iryanie from IRIS Flowers.

On top of the adult’s classes, participants are encouraged to bring along their children between age 4 to 17 to participate in the children’s programme as well. Program Kembara Kanak-Kanak is a specially designed programme that targets to boost the child’s confidence level, building relationships, developing emotional growth and strengthening personal skills and developing skills and curiosity in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field. The 9-session children programme will be led by Taylor’s University’s Debate Club members and Taylor’s University AIESEC members.
