Mahdev Singh Sachdev volunteered his Saturdays in nurturing the PPR kids through the ‘Hero-Hero Sri Pantai’ under the Program Keusahawanan Taylor’s-CIMB Islamic. A student at Taylor’s University Law School, Mahdev has been actively involved in the debating club. He is the current president of the club and wish to work in the area of public law one day.
“”My first project with Taylor’s Community was ‘Heroes of PPR’, a project where Taylor’s University Debaters conducted English language sessions. It was fulfilling to see young children finally find a conducive environment to practice their English. Further, it was a platform for many of us to go beyond debating and improve our teaching skills. Who would’ve thought, I’d be able to say, I have experience teaching!” – Mahdev
Mahdev recently led the Taylor’s University Debate club in designing strategic activities and executing the plan with the children during the ‘Hero-Hero Sri Pantai’. Rewarding himself with connection opportunities and personal development along the way.
Below are his thoughts after the programme.
“Working with Taylor’s Community is a very flexible and enriching experience. The team allows you, the student, to take the lead in planning and executing projects that they have sanctioned to you. They provide useful guidance to ensure your activities are geared to achieving the outcome it set out to accomplish especially in measuring impact.
“They’re filled with humor and understand that students themselves are here to develop and allow the space for that.”
