SOCIT Awareness Workshop

With the rising era of an increasing use of technology, Taylor’s School of Computing and Information Technology (SOCIT) organised an awareness workshop that focused on spreading the benefits of technology to the underserved community. The workshop was divided into 3 categories – for kids aged 12 and below, teenagers, and adults above 18 years old. The participants invited were Taylor’s Community’s main beneficiaries from the Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) and an NGO, SOLS 24/7.

The main aim of the workshop was to expose the community to computing and IT. The focus for the adults was to introduce how technology can help their small businesses reach a wider target audience.

By the end of the workshop, the adult category participants managed to post their products online on websites such as Mudah.my and Carousell. The teenagers had an increase in knowledge on how to utilise social media for good use and marketing a business. The basic of computing and IT were delivered to the younger participants from the kids’ category.

The overall success of this workshop has given a big impact on the community and hopefully has given them enough knowledge and motivation to promote their business on a wider scale.

On behalf of Taylor’s Community, we appreciate the attendance and the participation of both students of SOCIT and the communities who were involved.
