PRU HUG Program (Effective Employee Volunteering Training Program)

PRU HUG Program (Effective Employee Volunteering Training Program)

When employees are willing to spend their time and energy in volunteering to give back to the community, it means they are eager to contribute their skillset & energy to the sustainability of community building

However, training and development initiatives are crucial in maintaining the quality of the volunteer. Especially when volunteering really matters to your organization and its vision in community building.

We have our very own iconic Effective Employee Volunteering Training Program that aims to train new & existing volunteers towards effective & sustainable contributions towards the cause they are keen on. Moreover, it aims to provide a methodology for assessing the quality and satisfaction of the volunteering journey.

We had a great 2-day on the 3rd and 4th of December 2022 at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus where we had our Effective Employee Volunteering Training Program attended by 23 awesome volunteers from the Prudence Foundation, called PRU HUG Program. PRU HUG Program, short for Prudence Foundation Helps You to Grow focused to scale up the volunteering experience of each volunteer for a sustainable change for themselves and the community to work with. This is to ensure their volunteers are led by purpose and impact driven in their volunteering journey and continuously improving themselves while uplifting the communities. This training also aimed to train PRU volunteers to take up leadership roles in volunteering and focuses on self-actualization (mental health benefit to the volunteers).

During the Day 1 training session, they were brought back to reflect on their calling, the roles they played in their daily life, and how they stay true to their calling. They also learned about setting up their goal in volunteering as well as creating a program with impact in mind as the end goal and how it will be able to create a bigger impact on the community. At the end of Day 1, all 4 groups successfully created a program to be executed on Day 2 for a group of refugee children.

On Day 2, the participants continued to learn about leadership roles and qualities through an interactive and fun game. They also learned basic coaching skills that would be beneficial in their leadership journey and while they are interacting with their beneficiary. The day continued with each group of volunteers executing the program that they planned during Day 1. They had an exciting 2-hour session with 15 refugee children from a refugee learning center. At the end of the day, the children shared their experiences throughout the 2-hour session they spent with the volunteers. It was heartwarming to witness the happiness and appreciation shared by the children for the opportunity they had on the day.

This 2-day experiential training program on becoming a transformational volunteer has developed participants’ skills and sparked their passion further to play bigger & meaningful roles in volunteering as well as a leader. Participants had direct impact creation opportunities for a group of beneficiaries during the training session.

An Employee Volunteering Project (EVP) was held yesterday at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. 7 Taylorians from various departments and 15 students from GHALC school came together in unity for an impactful cause. The EVP aimed at bridging the gap between the employees of Taylor’s Education Group and the underserved communities.

In conjunction with Malaysia’s 65th Independence Day, Taylor’s Community organized a soap making workshop (cooking oil based) led by our very own Program Keusahawanan (PK)’s Alumni – Kak Hana Sarinah from PPR Lembah Subang. The soap created by the students and Taylorians will be available for pre-order and open to the public to purchase. GHALC school’s main challenge is a lack of utensils and tools to initiate any science related experiments, therefore, so all proceeds will be used to purchase science equipment for the school.
